MOVEMENT OF THE ANCESTORS

Yatreda sought to preserve elements of the past that have endured to this day, turning to the rich tradition of dance as a timeless cultural expression. Together with a choreographer, they captured the essence of various regional dances, reinterpreting them in their unique artistic style.

The significance of this endeavor is encapsulated in a modern proverb: “ብሎክቼን ዉድ ሀብታችን የሆነዉን ባህል የምናስቀምጥበት ካዝና ነው” ("The blockchain is a vault for our cultural treasures"). In Ethiopian culture, dance is more than just movement; it is a profound expression of love and celebration, especially at weddings and gatherings, where dancing until one sweats is a sign of joy and affection. By placing this series on the blockchain, Yatreda has effectively carved these cultural dances into digital stone, ensuring their preservation as a lasting tribute to Ethiopia's heritage.
